I'm so incredibly excited for this weekend. Tell your friends! Harpeth Knoll Park from 9am to 1pm.

As I sit here it's 32F and overcast outside. The UPS tracking says the 400 native trees and shrubs are on their way from the Mason State Tree Nursery in Illinois to my house in Nashville.

Looking forward to the weekend shows a very different picture. The weather is supposed to be in the upper 70's. I'll have over 50 other native shrubs and plants prepped and ready to give away to folks who don't have space for a tree. And I'll have a bunch of seeds from last fall from an assortment of native plants. It would be the perfect time to throw them into every flowerbed you can find.

I've also submitted two proposals to the Nashville Native Plant Symposium, one on setting up a DIY backyard nursery for native plants (and how to give them away), and another on the need to grow native edible plants to increase both local food resilience and biodiversity.

If you're interested in native plants I highly recommend attending the Native Plant Symposium in August. Last year was a great day of talks and meeting other plant nerds, and I hope this year will be the same.

This Saturday!
